Tell us what you are trying to do?
I have a toolset post type (member) that each user with a specific role needs to fill out. I do not want to use a "user form" as I need some of this to be searchable. I have the search items set up already.

Is there any documentation that you are following?
I have tried but not doing so well. I get it to link to one member but not all - I need every member type to use the same template.

Is there a similar example that we can see?

What is the link to your site?
Loop template - working the way I want.

There is no native feature in either Toolset or any other Plugin (AFAIK) of the WordPress ecosystem to "connect" users to posts unless the core feature of "post author."

It means the only connection between a post and a user is the authorship of the post, and that can be only one user each post.

And as you already recognized, this also means you are restricted if you use the "authorship" as a relationship between users and posts because you cannot search through users like thru posts.

But Toolset folks have listened to the requirements of users, and initially we provided solutions directly here in the forum, but due to the demand of this feature, we also created a full Documentation that explains how to reach a connection between user and posts, which allows you to create "relationships" between the two, and then also search thru your "users" as those get "mirrored" into a Post Type.
It's explained here:
https://toolset.com/documentation/post-relationships/how-to-create-custom-searches-and-relationships-for-users/

The above-documented feature has until now solved every such requirement; I hope it also helps you to achieve your goal.
If not, please don't hesitate to ask for more information here - so I can help you at my best capacity.

Note, if you think this should be an "inbuilt" feature, please feel free to suggest it to https://toolset.com/home/contact-us/suggest-a-new-feature-for-toolset/, explaining precisely what feature you'd like inbuilt into Toolset and how it'd benefit your workflow.
That form informs our Product Management directly, so the people with decision authority in Toolset can eventually consider implementing such features in upcoming development cycles.

Please let me know if I covered all the doubts
