Hey

I was very excited to start using Toolset but after reading other threads I fear I may have hit a wall which will mean it doesn't do what we need it to do...

Please see here: hidden link

We need certain items to be clickable. The title should obviously be clickable to take people to the product page.

But we also need 'composer' taxonomy to be clickable and generate a new table of results showing only that composer's works.

The same goes for instrumentation which is a taxonomy included on the product page.

Please let me know if this is possible.

Thanks

Simon

Hi Simon,

Thank you for contacting our support forum.

Would you mind providing me a screenshot of the loop output section of your view so that I can see which shortcodes you are using ?

Thanks,
Shane

Thanks Shane

Could I give you my login creds instead?

Regards

Simon

Hi Simon,

I took a look at this for you and used the [wpv-post-link] shortcode instead of the [wpv-post-title] and it is now displaying the title as a link.

Thanks,
Shane

Thanks Shane :]

Very new to this so please could you tell me where you put [wpv-post-link]?

How about the composer taxonomy? This is the bit I'm most concerned about...

Thanks

Simon

Hi Simon,

I added it to the content template for the view that you're using.

I also noticed that you are using the Divi builder for the view. In terms of what exactly I edited, you should be able to see it here.

For the composer taxonomy, this should already be clickable , you can use the shortcode here. https://toolset.com/documentation/user-guides/views-shortcodes/#vf-153472

Please let me know if this helps.

Thanks,
Shane

Hey

Thanks for that. I couldn't get the composer taxonomy to link but I have another question to supercede that.

Having limited coding knowledge I was already daunted about having to style the table on the archive page. We have the Barn2K Product Table plugin that you mention in your documentation.

I don't know where to put the shortcode to see how this would look, and whether it would be a better option for us to use this rather than inserting a Toolset table. Please can you tell me where to put it? It would look something like this:

[product_table columns="image,cf:wpcf-composer-short,name,price,add-to-cart”]

I hope this makes sense, I realise I'm probably not using correct Toolset terminology, early days.

Thanks

Simon

Hi Simon,

So the shortcode you want to use currently generates a table ?

You should be able to add it to any page you like.

What you can do is to just create a new page and add the shortcode to the editor to see what it looks like.

Thanks,
Shane

Hey

Might be easier if I show you this, please take a look what we created here: hidden link

That is the product table plugin in action. That install does not have Toolset installed.

We bought Toolset because we needed a way to make custom taxonomies such as 'Composer' clickable (when clicked generating a new product archive based on the taxonomy that's been clicked).

So I set up a new site here to test Toolset: hidden link

I tried to create my own product table product archive using only Toolset but I found it difficult to style, the top nav was overlapping the body and some more strange behaviour that me, as quite an amateur, found difficult to get my head around.

Then I read an article on your site that says the Barn2K product table plays nicely with Toolset: https://toolset.com/2017/06/wordpress-table-plugins-integration-with-toolset-types/

So I need the plugin to act as the product archive, and also display search results or clicked taxonomies as a product table.

Does that explain a little better??

I did request a hangouts call which would make explaining easier.

Thanks for the assistance here :]

Cheers

Simon

Hi Simon,

The issue seem to be caused by layouts.

Do you have the Barn2k plugin installed?

Also could you re-add the shortcode back to the archive page.

Hi Shane

Where do I put the shortcode, in the loop editor?

Hi Simon,

You should add it to the Templates for this WordPress Archive section.

Thanks,

I just see the raw shortcode... hidden link

Why is it displayed five times?

Is it possible to use non-toolset shortcodes at all?

Thanks

Simon

Hi Simon,

Yes it is possible however i'm not sure why the shortcode isn't rendering. Even on a page where toolset isn't controlling this same issue occurs.

The shortcode appears multiple times because of the loop where it is looping through the list of posts.

Could you get in touch with the woocommerce product table support to see why its not rendering the table.

Thanks,
Shane
