Tell us what you are trying to do?
Hello,
I am working on a project for which I have created several custom post types.
I need to display the article listings of these custom post types.
To create these lists, I prefer to work with views.
However, I have read in the Toolset documentation that WordPress archives are always (intrinsically) created by default.

Here is my question:
Does it mean that WordPress archives are necessarily indexed by search engines.
If so, do I have to always create archives in Toolset. In other words, do I have to create Toolset archives in addition to the views so that search indexed content is consistent.

Thank you

Hi Dominique,

Thank you for getting in touch.

However, I have read in the Toolset documentation that WordPress archives are always (intrinsically) created by default.

That is correct the archives are always generated by default by wordpress however you can disable the archives by unchecking the has_archive attribute in Toolset -> Post Types and under your custom post type Options settings.

What this does is disable the rewrite rules for the archive for this custom post type. The only downside is when you navigate to the Archive URL with the settings disabled then you'll be redirected to one of the posts.

Does it mean that WordPress archives are necessarily indexed by search engines.

Yes the archives are indexed by search engines. No you don't have to always create an archive in Toolset as your theme will determine how the archive pages look unless you want to customize how the archives display.

If you want consistency then yes you can create both matching archive and view.

Thanks,
Shane
