[Resolved] Checkbox field not searching

This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem: The checkbox filter I added to my custom search View is not filtering the results as expected.

Solution: Check to be sure there is a Query Filter associated with the filter control. If not, the filter will not function correctly. Instead of adding the Query Filter manually, delete the filter control from Search and Pagination, then add it back using the New Filter button. The Query Filter will be updated automatically using the correct syntax.

Hi there,
On this page:
hidden link

There are a total of 5 "people."
I have a custom search view with three filters across the top. Institute and Division work as expected but if I search with Area of Expertise, the results give me all 5 people, when it should just give me the people(s) with the appropriate area of expertise.
For example, Jerry Harrison should be the only result when you search for Food Science as an Area of Expertise.

Hi, it looks like a filter configuration issue. Please go to wp-admin and edit this View. Scroll to the top right corner and click "Screen Options" so you can activate the Query Filter editor panel. Then scroll down to the Query Filter section and you will see that the Area of Expertise custom field filter doesn't exist here. Normally you need both the filter control shortcode (in the Search and Pagination panel) AND the Query Filter configured for this field. I would fix this by deleting the filter control shortcode from Search and Pagination first. Then add it back by clicking the "New Filter" button just above the Search and Pagination editor panel and selecting the desired configurations. When you use the system to build this filter control, the Query Filter should be automatically updated with the correct settings. Please try updating using those steps, and let me know if the problem is not fully resolved.

thank you for the solution! Also, I didn't know I could see the custom query filter screen, very helpful!
