Hi,

I want to remove the Divi Theme from an existing project and use a different builder method.

I know it will not be simple but can you please advise me as to your best recommendation on what theme might better serve my needs with this particular media file heavy site?

The concept is to display artwork in the most accessible and visually appealing way. I will use whatever theme builder you feel would be the most compatible with Toolset and this particular application. Please note: a re-build of this site with Toolset must occur as a subsite in a WP multisite network and be duplicatable for other artist subsites on the network. These subsites can have as few as 10 and as many as 10,000 media files.

Hi Charles,

Thank you for getting in touch.

Unfortunately I cannot recommend a builder/theme that would be 100% compatible with toolset all the time. Since the page builders are independent developers, they may update something that breaks in toolset or vice versa.

What we do have is a small list of themes with the fewest issues and they can be found in the link below.https://toolset.com/documentation/recommended-themes/

However if you have not already checked out our Toolset blocks then I recommend that you do as you can create your views and content templates using the gutenburg editor from wordpress if you're not already familiar with this.

It makes building out your templates a much easier visual experience.

Thanks,
Shane

Hi Shane,

Toolset types have performed very well for us for over a year now. I feel a wise choice is to try to rebuild the site using the Toolset blocks and drop the unknown theme variable. If the art display templates I create are not dependant on a theme at all, then that would enable me to select a theme that is the most compatible with another feature functionality.

Can I salvage anything from the existing site? Media files (2614 qty. and growing), related custom post type data, etc.?

Hi Charles,

You should be able to salvage the data from the site as well as the related information.

What you will essentially need to rebuild is the templates for the pages if you are going to use the block editor.

Thanks,
Shane

Hi Shane,

I am excited about using the New Toolset Blocks with the added design functionality. Because of installation issues, I have to rebuild this site with a new WP installation rather than transform the existing one.
Do you have any suggestions as to how I can download and transfer the media, custom fields and the search configuration from the old site?

Thanks.

Hi Charles,

You actually can export the data using the default wordpress exporter but you will need to ensure that you've exported the Types custom fields and all the relevant information.

After which you can go ahead and export the data using the default wordpress exporter for content.

If you content contains post relationships then you will need to use a more complex exporting tool like the one below.

Hi Shane,

I want to make sure I understand exactly what I can do with Toolset Blocks and the added design features. You may not recall but you helped create a path for the site owner to link a single featured image on the main landing page by clicking a star for the image in the media gallery. I am hoping that that will be possible in the new system and easier to manage if possible.

Can this also be expanded?

In the current site, we can only link a single image file to the main landing page display. Can we also display 12 +/- image files in a gallery grid or carousel by category?

Can we post these featured image displays in multiple locations and manage each independently?

Hi Charles,

Thank you for the continued patience on this.

"I want to make sure I understand exactly what I can do with Toolset Blocks and the added design features."

The Toolset Blocks is essentially the same plugin as the Toolset Views plugin. The only difference is that it comes with the block editor enabled by default.

So the items that were done in the Views plugin previously should still function as intended.

'In the current site, we can only link a single image file to the main landing page display. Can we also display 12 +/- image files in a gallery grid or carousel by category?'

I would need to see the original ticket for the issue I assisted with to give a more accurate answer here. However you can display your image files as a gallery grid or carousel based on the category.

Thanks,
Shane
