Okay, debug enabled. attempted to update all 4 plugins again with debug enabled. It looks like now it updated 3 of 4 and the updates stuck...
The one that did not update is "maps". HOWEVER this time there was not a 500 error and I did not have to restore a backup; Which was the case when I sent the ticket and I have been trying once every few days for a week!
This time i got a success message but wp admin still says that maps needs to be updated ( this was also happening to the other 3 plugins through out last week - updates to these were saying "success" but not being updated.)
