The assigned Template for Type becomes unassigned and a new one needs to be created and assigned.
I have a Type called Exercise and Exercise-Object
I removed all data from the Exercise type and then deleted it.
I renamed Exercise-Object to Exercise, and all the view references kept working.
Now, either randomly or after assigning a template to another type the template for the Exercise type becomes unassigned and I can only create a new one and assign it again until it becomes unassigned again.
I'm 100% this happens, what I'm not sure about is when it happens, i.e. just randomly or after editing/creating a template for another type.

1. Created type Exercise
2. Created type Exercise Object
3. Deleted all data from Exercise
4. Deleted type Exercise
5. Renamed Exercise Object to Exercise
6. Assigned template ABC
7. Template becomes unassigned
8. Need to create template ABC2 and assign it
9. Template becomes unassigned
10. Need to create template ABC3 and assign it
Further info. Not only did it remove the assigned template it assigned another unrelated template which happens to be the last template I assigned to another Type.
Could it be that I'm just a noob? I created a new template for Exercise Taxonomy called Benefits. I assigned a template to that taxonomy and on the page itself I ticked Exercises in the right-hand menu. Does this unassign the previously assigned template?

I would also eventually need to request temporary access (WP-Admin) to your site. Preferably to a test site where the problem has been replicated if possible in order to be of better help and check if some configurations might need to be changed.
