I am trying to: Allow users to upload a profile picture of themselves on a front-end form and then be able to edit this image afterwards

Link to a page where the issue can be seen: hidden link however you won't be able to see it without being logged in.

I expected to see: Some profile images when they are uploaded they appear in the wrong orientation. I want the user to be able to edit their profile, or the admin to be able to edit the images by rotating their profile so that it appears the correct way on the front end. see screenshot attached.

Instead, I got: when users try to edit their profile image, or when the admin tries to edit the image, image preview is unable to load and we are unable to make edits. We are also not able to change the image on the profile. see screenshot attached

Hi there

We have an update pending for Forms that will use the WordPress media uploader when inserting images in Toolset Forms which will expand on the abilities to edit images.

However, while testing the backend editing experience I found that rotating uploaded images in the Media Library had no effect on the image output by the types shortcode in a template for the post, the original version was shown.

I've escalated this so that my colleagues can take a closer look, and I'll get back to you when I have feedback from them.

Thank you, I will await your response for a suggested solution.
Do you have an estimated time for rollout of the media uploader?

We have imminent releases related to WordPress 5.0 (and Gutenberg) for most of the plugins, likely at the start of next week.

Use of the native Media Uploader will be added in the next Forms release, which should follow fairly soon afterwards. I don't have a time table for Forms 2.3, where it will be included, but I can see from the internal tickets that most of the work is complete already.

The issue about images rotated in the backend is reported but not yet fixed, it should be worked on once the WordPress 5.0-related release happens next week.

Hi there

I don't have an update about the timing of using the built-in media uploader in Toolset Forms, but I can tell you that the issue about image fields recognising edits made in the Media Library (e.g. rotating an image) will be included in the next Types release, 3.2.5

Types 3.2.5 was published at the end of last week, and has already been superseded by a hotfix to Types 3.2.6.

Updating your version of Types should fix the issue whereby edits made in the media library are recognised.

You need to go to Toolset > Settings > Custom Content and choose the option "Always apply image modifications done using Media Library".
