Hello

We have set up a test site on our multisite here hidden link
And we are finding the results of the ajax search very slow to load.
The site is built on Beaver Builder but we are only using Toolset and addons for this project. We have no other significant plugins other than Ubermenu. We are hosted by Flywheel and currently on PHP7.1 As per Flywheel we use no caching plugins. We only have three CPTS to be called in the search.

Looking forward to hearing from you.
Thanks

Hi James,

Thank you for getting in touch.

I checked the site and the loading speed seems fine to me.

Could you perhaps do a screencast of what you are experiencing ?

Thanks,
Shane

Hi Shane,

For us, there is at least a 2-second delay before the initial search is completed and results are shown. After the initial search, it is much quicker. We are surprised at this delay as there are only 3 items to check and this concerns us as to what the delay will be like when we have hundreds.

Thanks

Hi James,

This is actually normal.

What you perhaps need to do is to add a spinner to the search as a form of feedback mechanism so that the users know that the item is loading.
https://toolset.com/documentation/user-guides/views/front-page-filters/#vfmh-adding-search-controls-submit

When this scales to large websites it would be best to employ the use of caching but your view shouldn't load any slower.

Please let me know if this helps.

Thanks,
Shane

Hi Shane,

Thanks for this. We've looked into adding a spinner but cannot see how that can be done using blocks. Would you be able to guide us?

Thanks

Hi James,

Currently you're not able to add the spinners with our blocks setup . This will be added sometime in the future.

However you can still do it with the classic editor for views.

If you to Toolset->Settings you can change the setting for the builder here.

Thanks,
Shane
