Admin dashboard don't load webp thumbnails in preview with WPML

This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:

The webp images do not show in the admin listing with WPML

Solution:

Go to WPML > Settings and set the field translation type to "Translate" instead of "Copy Once"

This support ticket is created 3 years, 7 months ago. There's a good chance that you are reading advice that it now obsolete.

I am trying to:
Upload webp images to image field - all is good, but after save - webp image previews gone

I expected to see:
Thumbnail previews of webp images in admin area

Instead, I got:
empty thumbnails if it is webp.

In frontend all is good.

We had the same issue with webp but it was in the front end and not the backend. But anyways, would you please check this and see if it works for you?

Hello, Christopher, thank you for fast reply. I did it before open this ticket, and it is not work in admin.
Additional information: we have thumbnails before save the post. I think it is the same problem as was in frontend - resizing, but only in backend.

Thank you for the test. To be able to report this to the development team we will need to replicate the issue on a clean installation.

I created a WordPress installation with Toolset installed. I'd appreciate it if you can add a list like the one that you have on your website, not all the details, just to show that the webp does not show in admin and I will report this.

Thank you for help, i did find the bug. It is WPML + image field option. If we put option "copy once" to image custom field - the webp image will not display after post save.

If we choose any other option - webp images will display correctly.
