[Resolved] Adding an edit link to Layout Templates for single Posts

This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
How can we add a link to edit the currently displayed Post, in a Template Layout, so that when clicked, the Toolset Form to edit this post is shown?

Solution:
You can create a Toolset form and insert it into a new Layout.
Do not assign this Layout to any content.
Then edit the Layout for the single posts where you want the Edit Link to appear.
Insert a "Edit Post Link" using a Visual Editor Cell.
When inserting this link the GUI will ask you to set the Layout which shows the form, where you can choose the layout you created in the first step.

This will now produce a link on the single posts which leads to the edit form for each post.

I am trying to:
Adding an edit link to templates that display single items

Link to a page where the issue can be seen:
hidden link

I expected to see:
a popup where I can select a layout that contains the edit form.

Instead, I got:
A blue message with the following text:
"Create a new Layout that will include the editing form. You can start from scratch or copy the template you use to display the content and modify it. Documentation on Toolset edit links • See all available layouts, or create a new one"

Tried:
- I followed the instructions at: https://toolset.com/documentation/getting-started-with-toolset/publish-content-from-the-front-end/forms-for-editing/

It doesn't seem you have yet created a Toolset Layout (unassigned) with the actual Toolset Form to edit those posts, right?
I cannot see any here hidden link > Unassigned Layouts.

Hence, you'd have to follow the message's suggestion and create such layout with the Form in it.
This one here is only talking about Content Templates https://toolset.com/documentation/getting-started-with-toolset/publish-content-from-the-front-end/forms-for-editing/ - it's not mentioning Toolset Layouts.
With layouts, you'd follow this DOC instead https://toolset.com/documentation/getting-started-with-toolset/publish-content-from-the-front-end/building-forms-for-editing-when-using-layouts/

I created such example layout for you here hidden link
You can now use this Layout to link to, in your other Layouts edit link (see screenshot)

I have a question.
The Button's Labels, when you insert the Toolset Form Edit Link, are translated to Spanish, but to me, it seems totally wrong.
Those buttons say:
"Crear enlace de entrada inferior"
"Editar enlace de entrada"
"Eliminar enlace de entrada"
"Editar enlace de usuario"

If you agree that's wrong, and should correct, can you help me find the best version in Spanish?
Right now, the button's labels seem to say that you can actually edit the edit link, which is not what happens, instead, you insert a link to an edit form.
Or when it says "Crear enlace de entrada inferior" , I assume "inferior" is totally out of context here, by the bit of Spanish I understand.
I would like to report that to the Developers for changes if you can help me find the best names I am happy to forward these, since you will likely have a better understanding of Spanish than me 😀

Hello Beda,
i've saw that i was confused with templates and layouts uses.
i've followed the document (https://toolset.com/documentation/getting-started-with-toolset/publish-content-from-the-front-end/building-forms-for-editing-when-using-layouts/) but still something is wrong with my understanding because when i added a visual editor and clicked the "fields and views" button, there is not "form edditing" section with the "form edit-post link" button.
Can you please make some light for me here?

about the button's label translations, yes, they are wrong, the right ones could be
"Crear enlace para la entrada anterior". "anterior" instead of "inferior" if we want to say "the previous post".
"Enlace para editar la entrada".
"Enlace para eliminar la entrada"
"Enlace para editar usuario"

thanks and regards,

It is not in the "Views and Fields" but in the "Toolset Forms" GUI.
But, for this to work, you need Views active as well.

Then, in the Toolset Forms GUI, you see the edit post link button, which leads to all the required steps and GUI to use/fill out.

I asked to update the DOC, as it's not reflecting the current scenario anymore adequately.

Thank you a lot for the confirmation about translations being off as well, I will open a task for our guys and girls about this.

Thank you!
