Hi!

I run a membership site where I added a lot of custom user fields to the user profiles. The fields contain personal data like addresses, phone numbers etc.

When a user exports his data, these fields don't show up. This is a big problem in terms of the GDPR!

How can I easily add my custom fields to the exporter / eraser?
Some ohter plugins (like Gravity Forms) allow to add custom fields to the exporter/eraser with a simple checkbox click. Toolset should provide this as well!

Best regards
Matthias

Hi Matthias,

What are you using to export the user's data? Is the data stored as on the user's default wordpress profile or did you create a Profile custom post type for the user.

Either way Toolset doesn't allow you to export the Data it will only export the Custom Field structure. For data export a 3rd party plugin will need to be used.

However please provide a bit more clarity on my questions above so that I can best advise.

Thanks.
Shane

Hi Shane,

thank you for your reply.

I'm using the default WordPress export and erase tools which you can find at /wp-admin/export-personal-data.php and /wp-admin/erase-personal-data.php. And I'm using the default WordPress user profiles and added some custom user fields with Toolset Types.

Ideally, I can mark these custom user fields to be respected by the export and erase tools. Gravity forms is handling this very good. You can decide for every new form field, if it should be integrated in the export/erase tools. See the screenshot.

But maybe there's also a way to add custom fields to the export/erase tools with filters?

Best regards
Matthias

Hi Matthias,

Thank you for the screenshot.

It is quite possible however I would recommend getting in touch with the makers of the export/erase tool for the best advice on this.

They should be able to tell you exactly what you need to do. Consult with them and if you need anything from us here in Toolset i'll be more than happy to assist.

Thanks,
Shane

Hi Shane,

the export/erase tool is a default feature since WordPress 4.9.6 and I think it's the job of plugin developers to integrate their plugin into the export/erase tool (like Gravity Forms did).
Here is some info: https://developer.wordpress.org/plugins/privacy/adding-the-personal-data-eraser-to-your-plugin/

Maybe you can add this as a feature request for the Types plugin?

Best regards
Matthias

Hi Matthias,

There isn't much I can do at this point, this will need to be something that is implemented at the developer level.

If there is some particular data that you want me to help with removing from the database I would be more than happy to assist if I can but a solution from the plugin will need to be done by our development team.

Thanks,
Shane
