Tell us what you are trying to do?
I'm developing a directory listing site. I have been all over the map trying to figure things out by watching the videos when needed, and more often creating pages/elements as I go along. What has been confusing is the reasoning and need (e.g. to get X you need to create pages y and z) for each of the Content Template, Archive, and Page. This is especially true when I am recreating my listing container multiple times which seems unnecessarily duplicative.

What would be helpful
A diagram of the flow and elements of someone developing a common listing site. I would love to help create this given I'm building a mapping-centric site.

Is there any documentation that you are following?
Your existing videos and documentation.

Is there a similar example that we can see?
An ongoing development on my site starting with the 'Resources/Organizations' page.

What is the link to your site? hidden link

Thank you!

Hi there

I'm not sure which documentation you are looking at, but we have a step-by-step guide to create directory and listing sites here: https://toolset.com/course/wordpress-directory-and-classifieds-sites/

Have you been following that?

Naturally it is a generic guide to creating such a site which isn't specific to your site. We don't have an alternative document to describe the same thing in a different way, and I think the best help we can give you is to answer questions about any specific aspect that you are stuck with.

This was just feedback to encourage you to use visuals to describe the myriad options in Toolset, especially for noobs. Thank you!

To clarify, what I meant by this was there are many different el;ements and it's not clear what is what. There's the View page, the Custom template, the Custom Archive template, and the 'Dynamically Assigned by Toolset' template.

It is entirely confusing when it isn't clear which should be used for one's situation. I'm trying to do a list/directory site and am just bumping around trying to style my content for instance. I'm trying to narrow the gap between rows and there are several places I could do this.

For instance, in each of the above I place a container, a grid, and for some a search bar, and others (e.g. the Custom template) just the single item. I am recreating the listing container/grid/fields for all three templates - which doesn't make much sense.

So, a diagram illustrating these three templates, their purposes, and then the container/grid/element diagrams would help immensely. The idea is perhaps start with the final product, then show diagrams of the different elements in order of use, that break down the component-pages and individual blocks and styling tools, needed to achieve that final list.

Again, I think this would be very useful to users, and I would be glad to contribute this, at the very least for Directory/Listing websites. I just need to understand it myself and have someone to interact with to discuss how it would be done.

Thanks!
