I am trying to: "catch" a 404 error that happens with empy search

Link to a page where the issue can be seen: hidden link

I expected to see: "* results" or "0 results"

Instead, I got: a broken WordPress page

I also see this into php error logs:
[29-Jun-2018 11:00:47 UTC] PHP Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 536870912 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 83 bytes) in /var/www/NIRVANA/archiviodeigiochi.it/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 1889

Yes we could increase memory, but before that please tell us we're doing everything correctly, also 512 MB is already a lot.

Hello. Thank you for contacting the Toolset support.

Well - I do not see the fatal error - do I need to perform any search action? If yes - could you please tell me what search action I should perform.

The problem was solved by giving 1 GigaByte memory to WordPress in wp-config.php

But I think this is a little too much ... is there a idiot-proof solution to avoid an user to click "search" without any filter selected ?

The memory you assigned is enough but in order to minimize the cause of the issue as I do not know yet what plugins you are using or what is your current setup.

Could you please try to resolve your issue by deactivating all third-party plugins as well as the default theme to check for any possible conflicts with any of the plugins or themes?

Do you see any difference when you deactivate any third party plugin or switch to default theme?

No,
the website still consumes a wagon of RAM.

As I understand - you checked by deactivating all non Toolset plugins but there is no difference - correct? If yes:

*** Please make a FULL BACKUP of your database and website.***
I would also eventually need to request temporary access (WP-Admin and FTP) to your site. Preferably to a test site where the problem has been replicated if possible in order to be of better help and check if some configurations might need to be changed.

I would additionally need your permission to de- and re-activate Plugins and the Theme, and to change configurations on the site. This is also a reason the backup is really important. If you agree to this, please use the form fields I have enabled below to provide temporary access details (wp-admin and FTP).

I have set the next reply to private which means only you and I have access to it.
