Toolset 1.6.21: Build Better Maps with Marker Clustering and New Autocomplete Support

September 30, 2025

Toolset 1.6.21 is here! This release brings two big upgrades for Toolset Maps: marker clustering for OpenStreetMap and support for Google’s new Autocomplete API. It also includes important fixes for Views, Blocks, and PHP 8.2 compatibility.

Clearer Maps with Marker Clustering for OpenStreetMap

When a map has too many markers, it can quickly become cluttered and harder to use. Toolset Maps 2.2.1 now supports marker clustering for OpenStreetMap, making dense maps easier to read and navigate.

Instead of multiple overlapping pins, markers now group into tidy clusters that expand as visitors zoom in. The result:

  • Cleaner, more user-friendly maps
  • Faster performance on Views with many markers
  • An easier way for your users to explore data-heavy maps

Whether you’re showing properties, stores, events, or any other location data, your maps will look and feel more professional.

Support for Google’s New Autocomplete API

Google has introduced a new Autocomplete API for Google Maps searches, and Toolset Maps 2.2.1 supports it right out of the box.

Here’s what’s happening behind the scenes (and what it means for you):

Automatic version detection

Toolset checks your Google Maps key and uses the correct API without you having to configure anything.

Full backwards compatibility

If you’re using the older API, nothing changes; your setup still works with the familiar geosuggest component.

Consistent design

When using the new API, you’ll notice that Toolset shows a custom dropdown that matches Google’s autocomplete look.

No deprecation warnings

If you’re using new Google Maps keys, Toolset skips the old API entirely, so you don’t get cluttered with warnings.

Reliable performance

Behind the scenes, we’ve added error handling and fallback logic so autocomplete works consistently for all your users.

In short, you’ll get reliable autocomplete search without having to change a single setting in Toolset.

Other Fixes in This Release

Along with the improvements to Toolset Maps, this release also includes bug fixes across Toolset plugins:

  • Compatibility improvements: This release cleans up old function calls and property access so that PHP 8.2 no longer shows deprecation warnings. This keeps things running smoothly with the latest and future PHP versions.
  • Multilingual fixes: Toolset 1.6.21 fixes issues with date translations in dynamic fields. Localized dates now display correctly in every language and work properly with WPML.
