New ‘Getting started with Views’ Course

August 6, 2015

Views plugin can do a lot for you, but are you sure that you are getting the most of Views?

A new series of interactive tutorials will teach you how to use Toolset plugins ‘the right way’. We start with the basics and will continue to more advanced topics.

The first series covers Views basics:

  • Content Templates
  • Views
  • WordPress Archives

The next series will cover more advanced topics, such as pagination, custom search and sliders. Then, we’ll continue with CRED and Layouts tutorials.

How to get started

The course is focusing on practising. For this we prepared a training site at Discover WP – the official training system for Toolset.

The sample content is already set up to save your time. All you need to do is to launch your training site and follow the tutorials provided. You will find all details in the course introduction:

  1. Excellent course! Will there be others for each toolset? I’d really like to see one on types and custom field control.

    • Yes. We are going to offer this sort of training material for everything in Toolset plugins.

  2. I have started the course, but if i install a new site, I get a standard wordpress site without content in it (no services CPT etc.). I get this demo site on alle different sites i can install for courses.

    Am i doing something wrong?

    • Hi Jan-willemJ,
      when you install this site:
      http://discover-wp.com/site-types/views-tutorial/
you should see two Custom Post Types: Services and Testimonials and also a few regular WordPress pages. In other words your site should look exactly like this http://views-tutorial.discover-wp.com/

      My question is:
What exactly do you mean by “but if i install a new site”? Where do you install this site? On our discover-wp.com or in your private site? The Framework Installer plugin lets you create the copy of this site in any site. Are you using it? IN either case, could you list the steps you are doing?

    • Are you using the Safari browser for Macs maybe? Some users have reported issues with this one.
