New E-Commerce System and New Purchase Options

February 15, 2013

Today, we completed a very long process of migrating wp-types.com to WooCommerce, as our e-commerce platform (moved from Shopp). This change allows us to offer new purchase options for Toolset plugins. You can now buy Toolset, the different components separately or a lifetime account that doesn’t require renewal.

In the process, we migrated user accounts, payment history, invoices and affiliation information.

We finished this pretty late at night and we already see some glitches that we’ll handle first thing tomorrow morning. The most prominent glitch is incorrect date for imported purchases. This causes older Views accounts to act as if they are expired. We’re very sorry about this temporary inconvenience and we’re going to have everything fixed tomorrow.

The New Purchase Options

You can still buy Toolset and it still costs the same $149 (USD). The new purchase options include:

  • Views – $95
  • CRED – $95
  • Access – $39
  • Toolset, lifetime account – $295 (same as Toolset, but doesn’t require yearly renewals)

So now, you can buy exactly what you need. We all hope it helps.

Coming Up Next

Besides fixing these last glitches in our new e-commerce system, we’re pretty busy with Toolset development. Here are some to wet your appetite:

Ordering repeating fields in Types

Yes, it’s finally working. If you use repeating fields in Types, you’ll be able to order them. A convenient drag-and-drop interface will let you determine field order, which will apply to both Types PHP API and Views queries.

Syntax highlighting in Views

We’re making it easier to edit content of Views and Content Templates. You will get editing areas with HTML syntax highlighting and much more convenient editing controls.

CSS and JS editing directly from Views

Sometimes, you need to include small CSS and JS snips with Views and Content Templates. For example, for fancy transition effects. Views 1.2 will include these inputs directly in the Views editing.

Image attachments for Views

And, even more. Many times, Views need to include graphics. We’ve seen this with slider Views and many other Views that need some decoration. Instead of having to upload to the theme or media library, we’ve added a way to upload and use images directly into Views.

Many many fixes and stability improvements

Did you know that Toolset development team grew to a total of eight? We decided to make it top priority for everyone to first handle bugs, glitches, performance, stability and documentation issues. The upcoming versions of Types, Views and CRED are a ton more stable and clean.

This puts us in a much better state going forward with major new features. I’ll write a lot more soon, as things get ready.

Back to the system upgrade issues – by the time you read this, most issues should be behind us. Still, if something isn’t working for you, please leave a comment here. David and Alvaro, our ‘system’ maintainers, will respond to everything and make sure that it’s working for everyone. Thank you very much for your confidence in us and your patience. We’ll do our best not to stretch it.

  1. Ohhh! This is making me all excited! Thanks for all effort put in!

I really love toolset, I cannot believe how far me and my business have went into! I was scammed around 5k from various developers from elance and freelancer.com and finally decided to do all the work myself.

Like my dream application come true!

Is there any way I can change my username? 🙁

    • Thank you for the kind complements. I can change your username for you. Wrote you an email and you can reply to it privately.

  2. That’s great news. Looking forward to the updates.

I would also like to inquire about when shall we expect CRED to handle user meta as well as post meta? That is one thing I am eagerly awaiting.

And by the way, don’t you think your current logo is a bit confusing? It has the letters TVC but the product is called Toolset, and then there’s Access which has its own logo but it’s not included in the Toolset “TVC” logo? A bit confounding if you ask me, especially for new visitors.

Finally, one minor thing, I noticed when I am in the “my topics” page under my account, the page title says “page not found”.

  3. Hi,
Views, CRED and Access are no more available for download in my account. Is this one of the “glitches to be fixed” you talked about?

    • Seems like that. It wasn’t supposed to happen. I’ve fixed your account manually and reported it to our system admin. We’ll check why that happened and make sure there are no other accounts in the same state.

  4. Hi,

could you tell me when the downloads issue for Views, CRED and Access are going to be fixed and available in the downloads?

    Thank you!

    • Fixed for you too manually. I’m not proud of this problem and we’re going to have it fixed first thing Monday morning.

      • Hi Amir,
thank you for a quick reply. The download links still don’t work.
I guess I’m waiting for Monday morning?

        Thank you!

        • I’m not sure. Two developers are looking at this now, trying to finally get it working. It’s pretty frustrating from my side too and the developers responsible for it are not happy with the current situation. This is the first thing we’re going to handle.

        • Hi Alisa,

We’ve traced the problem with your downloads to an obscure WP bug that made your subscription key to be handled incorrectly, but the problem should be fixed now. Please let us know if you can download now.

          Thanks for your patience,

          Alvaro

  5. Nice!

Will the unlimited lifetime license option also come to wpml in the future? (Would not mind if the liftime price is higher then the current price for toolset lifetime). Last wp plugin/theme that we still use that is recurring payment.

Still looking for a drag and drop theme framework as good as toolset to pair it with but still have not found anything good enough. Most frameworks have to much unwanted functionality and some are on the other hand lacking needed functionality and support. If you in the future ever get the urge to venture into the realm of premium theme frameworks we would gladly donate, buy or kickstart. Its easy to give money to someone you know will excel your expectations.

    • Yes, certainly. Now that we understand the need better, we’ll also be adding it to wpml.org. We’re just going to finish handling all the problems we saw during this migration and make sure they don’t repeat themselves when we migrate wpml.org to WooCommerce.

And, we’re very much aware of the need for solid and light drag-and-drop for Toolset. We have something in the works for this. It’s in early design now, with estimated schedule of 3 months from now.

When this is ready, you’ll be able to design layouts using drag and drop, not with just one theme but with dozens of existing WordPress themes.

  6. Just an idea for new features.

    Character limits for fields (Types)
On the fly filters or On the fly search (Views)

  7. Great news, I’m having the same issues as above (not able to download views etc)

Could I be notified when it’s fixed? Or sent a cop by email?

    Thanks!

    • Sorry for the late reply. It’s all supposed to be fixed now. Let me know if you see have any sort of download issues.

  8. i have not been able to download views for over 48 hours… no one will respond to me in the forum or in email. please respond

    • I’m really sorry about that. There was a bug in our Google Checkout interface, which caused several accounts not to be created. It’s fixed now and we sent over purchase history, but obviously missed your.

I just created it manually now. As a small compensation, I created you a ‘Toolset’ account, which covers Views, CRED and Acccess.

You should see all downloads in your Download page. If you are also missing your account login, please let me know and I’ll reset your password. Again, sorry for this mess. It’s fixed now for everyone else too.
