Problem:
The user would like to manage the data stored in external MySQL tables, create forms, views, and export data.

Solution:
Toolset uses the default database tables to store custom posts types posts and custom taxonomies terms:
- wp_postmeta
- wp_posts
- wp_terms
- wp_termmeta
- wp_term_relationships
- wp_term_taxonomy

Toolset Types is not designed to use custom tables that have custom schemas than WordPress tables.

If you would be using the same WordPress schema but separating custom post types and taxonomies to other tables, you can look at a 3rd party plugin, at your own risk, such as https://github.com/gschoppe/WP-Isolation

Custom post types are stored as posts and they can be exported with any plugin/code that aims to export WordPress content. We have some articles about 3rd party plugins for import/export:
