Problem:
In a View when adding searches or orderby options we can choose from ALL fields we ever created on the site, but the View is only querying a specific post type with just one or some fields assigned and populated.
Will this be changing in future?
Solution:
No, but it changed in Toolset Blocks, which is another flavour of the Toolset Views Plugin. It uses a react native UX like WordPress Gutenberg and that is populated dynamically, so if using blocks you have only choices as available for the current queried or styled post.
Problem:
How to output relationship fields when displaying one of the relationship post types in a View?
Solution:
When you output the field using a types shortcode it needs to include an item attribute that specifies that the post source if the intermediate post type where the relationship fields are stored, like so:
Using the Fields and Views button to insert the field—and specifying the source in the Post Selection tab—will ensure the correct format for the shortcode.
Problem: I have a View that displays results in a Bootstrap grid. When the text in one column on one row is very long, it can cause the column width to change. I want the column widths to be consistent from row to row.
Solution: Re-run the Loop Wizard and choose a table design. This option provides a more consistent column width and vertical alignment.
Problem:
With a post relationship between two post types, how to display a field from one post when viewing the other post.
Solution:
If there is just one connected post then when inserting a field using the Fields and Views button you will see a Post selection tab, where you can specify which post should be the source of the field, e.g. a related post.
If there may be more than one connected post, you would need to create a View to show posts related to the current one and add the field in the output section of the View.
