I am trying to: upgrade Views from 2.2.0 to 2.2.1

I visited this URL: wp-admin/update-core.php also tried from with the new > commercial update panel

I expected to see: a completed upgrade

Instead, I got: The update process is starting. This process may take a while on some hosts, so please be patient.

Enabling Maintenance mode…

Updating Plugin Toolset Views (1/1)

-- it never completes.

It also doesn't disable maintenance mode when it fails. On some sites it will actually tell me that it's timing out. Which means I have to log in via FTP to remove the maintenance file.

Hosts: InMotion, LunarPages, Hostgator, Amazon. (bluehost works, oddly)

Hi Valerie,

Thank you for contacting our support forum.

I suspect that this is a server issue but you can perform the update manual update of the plugin as an alternative.

What you can do is to check the PHP logs for the server to see what exactly the issue is.

It could be a timeout issue but check and let me know what the issue is.

Thanks,
Shane
