Hi there
bought the plugin this morning, slowly getting there with it. Basically on my site (www.divinedecor.es) I have a lot of products and we have a LOT of suppliers. When loading a product I want to be able to select from a drop down list box a supplier, which is entered as a customer post type. I dont want to add supplier as a taxonomy as it has its own taxonomies.

So, I setup custom post type of supplier, that has taxonomy of supplier-contacts (as we often have multiple contacts in one supplier.

So i have the CPT supplier setup with the fields I want, and i have the taxonomy setup with the fields there, and those two linked together all fine.

But, how do i make it, so that when I add a product to woocommerce I get a select list to chose the supplier from the CPT?

I have tried messing with parent/child, but as toolset didnt create products it can't edit it, to make supplier a child and then select the fields.

Bit stumped.

Thanks

J

Hi Janine

You are right that you cannot edit the Product post type because it is created by WooCommerce, but you can edit the supplier post type you want to connect and make the connection there. You will see product listed as one of the post types you can mark as either parent or child.

Then you will be able to connect posts.

i did that, I edited supplier cpt, then selected product as parent, but that didnt seem to work, and i tried it as a child, that also didnt work. On going into a product to edit the product i never got a select list of suppliers, guess there is some other step?
thanks

If you want to be able to select the supplier from a dropdown on the product page then product must be a child of supplier.

Then you should see a post relationship metabox on the product edit page, as per the screenshot (where my connected post is a project).

that worked, wording is a bit odd "this product belongs to supplier", but that doesnt really matter, i thought i had done all that before, but first time around it didnt give me a select list, anyway, its worked 🙂 many thanks for that.
