This is the community support forum for Types plugin, which is part of Toolset. Toolset is a suite of plugins for developing WordPress sites without writing PHP.
Everyone can read this forum, but only Toolset clients and people who registered for Types community support can post in it.
I added a new content template without any content types.
I added my "edit post" Cred Form shortcode with the assistant.
I saved.
I switched to my view and tried to add the CRED edit link to the loop.
Error:
Create a new Layout that will include the CRED editing form. You can start from scratch or copy the template you use to display the content and modify it.

Firstly, please note that you are posting in the Community Forum for users of the free Types plugin. As a Toolset customer you can and should post in the Technical Support forum which we prioritise and where you should receive speedier service.
You are seeing that message because you are using Layouts on your site (or you have it active and are presumed to be using it) and so the expectation is that you will place your CRED edit form in an unassigned Layout, rather than a content template.
It must be placed within a template, and if you are using Layouts the template must be a Layouts template.
thank your for your fast Support.
I followed your instruction and created a new layout for the post type.
I added the edit form to it and now I was able to add the link to the view.
But when I click on the link in frontend (after already logged in), I just see the post itself without the ability to edit something. I can not see the form (even the form is shown in form preview).
I am pretty sure that my theme is the Problem.
My theme is "The Ark"
It has a layout System and maybe this overwrites the layouts of Toolset.
I will ask the devoloper of "The Ark", if I am allowed to send you the theme as a zip.
Maybe he is interested in making the ark compatible to toolset.
That may be the case. We have access to a lot of themes through our compatibility programmes including WPML, but not The Ark as far as I can see, so if you are able to share it I can test it for you.
