When editing a custom taxonomy archive, if you insert an Image block and choose Dynamic Source, you cannot specify Featured Image as the source.
This occurs because the archive can be used to display various post types, some of which may not have featured images enabled.
This will be fixed in a Blocks update.
In the meantime you can workaround the issue by editing a template for a post type that will be included in the taxonomy archive which does support featured images (or edit such a post directly). Then add the image block using the featured image as source, choose other settings as required, then “Add to Reusable blocks”.
You can then edit the taxonomy archive and insert this reusable block (search for it by the name you gave it in the previous step), while removing the block from where you first inserted it.
