Large amounts of Terms can exhaust all memory on the Custom Field edit screen

Symptoms

Having a great amount of data (specifically, hierarchical terms) on your Toolset-powered Website can break the Where to use this Field group dialog when editing a group of custom fields.

If you have WordPress Debug enabled you might also see an error similar to the following:

• PHP Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 536870912 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 20074496 bytes) in …/types/vendor/toolset/types/includes/classes/class.types.admin.edit.fields.php on line 1447

Workaround

There is no solution to the issue, however, it happens very rarely and there would need to be thousands of terms to trigger it.

To try and avoid this issue, our developers will look into implementing chunked Select2 Selectors.
