Symptoms

When editing a Content Template designed using Divi you will not be able to select the custom field of a related post type:

  • You click to insert a custom field by using the Fields and Views button.
  • You get a pop-up dialog to configure the field.
  • The Post selection tab should display an option to display the field values coming from a related post type. This option however, does not appear.

Workaround

The development team is aware of the issue and will fix it as soon as possible.

For now, you can manually add the “item” attribute to the shortcode and set the value of the attribute using “@” + the post reference field slug + “.parent” or “.child” depending on the relationship.

Example shortcode:

You also can create a draft Content Template that is not designed with Divi and insert the field here. Use the post selection tab to choose the post related by reference field. Then copy + paste the generated shortcode into the Divi builder design.
