The CRED button to insert a form is breaking the Elementor text editor module

Resolved

Reported for: Toolset Forms 1.9.2

Resolved in: Toolset CRED 1.9.3

Topic Tags: Toolset Forms

Symptoms

When using the Elementor page builder and its Text Editor module, the CRED button to insert a form is displayed but not working, and the dialog to insert a form is incorrectly rendered plain above the editor.

Workaround

This problem will be solved in the next version of Toolset CRED. In the meantime, you can use this patch by unzipping it and uploading the files it contains, replacing the ones with the same names, located in:

  • /library/toolset/cred/embedded/classes/CRED.php
  • /library/toolset/cred/embedded/classes/cred-editor-addon.class.php

  • I am suspecting this may be related. I don’t know if the patch works as I have not tried it yet, however, Toolset Support please have a look at this behaviour…

The Add Cred Form button in the text editor constantly wants to burst out of its place, summoned only by collapsing and opening metaboxes – which happens with side and below metaboxes.

This is a bit like what it’s doing in Elementor edit screen, except that there, it goes even further and tries to add all form! So that’s what I relate it to anyway but may have nothing to do with. Worth knowing anyhow. It may be reported already but can’t find.
    Thanks

  • Further to last comment, the patch did not seem to work – cleared caches etc and still bug on Elementor and in WP admin screen, with Cred form popping up when ANY metaboxes are collapsed and opened. As in the video tagged.

Also while the instructions above say replace files name that, there were no files named that, only to with Admin in the title.

The directory I found the /library….classses in was:
    /wp-content/plugins/cred-frontend-editor/…

  • Hi Robert

    Thanks for the feedback.

The issue that you describe is not related to the one that we try to solve in this errata. The patch we provide here solves an issue where the CRED button and dialog are displayed entirely open, without styles, and without any interaction feedback, when used over the Text Editor module in Elementor. Only that. What you describe seems to be related to dialogs opening randomly when they should not. SO please open a specific support ticket about it.

I might have stated this more clear, but of course all the patches we include in our erratas need to be applid over the relevant plugin directory. In this case, CRED.

    Regards.

    • Ok, right thanks Juan. I thought I’d tried the patch before and didn’t work but have tried again and it does. I see it gets rid of the CRED forms button. But I still can’t use [Fields and Views] in Elementor.

Also the Text Editor box in Elementor become unusable with CRED acticated. Deactivating the CRED plugin solves this Elementor text editor problem immediately. Hope that’s useful to know.

A further note on my metaboxes and cred form behaviour. I’m not sure the video was clear, sorry. The CRED form was doing the random popping up. Tho no so randomly. By clicking on the metaboxes, while expanding and collapsing them is what trigger the CRED form button popups. Hope that makes sense. It’s definitely a problem with the CRED form button tho as that should not be happening.

Thanks , good luck in finding the fixes. Am sure Toolset-Elementor users are gasping for relief here.

      • Hi Robert, thanks for the feedback

Yes, this patch removes the CRED button from the Elementor text editor module, because it was not working, and because it made the module unusable. It is not the best of the solutions but at least it does not block anyone’s work.

We are aware that the Fields and Views button is displayed in that module but it does not work. We are in touch with the Elementor team to find a good solution as soon as possible.

Regarding the problem with metaboxes, as I stated above, it would be better to open a specific ticket about it. I could not replicate the issue following your description, and we have plans to revamp entirely the CRED button and the way you insert CRED form shortcodes, so it might become obsolete soon anyway.

        Regards.
