whenever I enter the key, i get the response that the key is invalid

That is strange.

Can you please delete the existing site key and then try to follow the following steps.

- Make sure you have installed and activated the Toolset Types plugin. You can download it from your account's download page: https://toolset.com/account/downloads/

- Once you installed and activated the Toolset Types plugin, navigate to:
Plugins => Installed Plugins and locate the Toolset Types plugin and click on the "Register" link.

Then try to follow the steps given with the following Doc:
- https://toolset.com/faq/how-to-install-and-register-toolset/#automatic-installation-once-you-have-otgs-installer-plugin-installed

Please let me know if still you do not able to register your site.

Thank you - before I do this, can you please confirm that deleting the plugin will not impact on the existing website until I have it reinstalled?

Well - deleting plugin will not delete the content from your site. Its just the plugin files will be deleted.

Howerver - in any case:
*** Please make a FULL BACKUP of your database and website.***
