Hi, we're experiencing a problem with the latest Views version. We have the plugin installed in many sites, and with the 3.1.x version we noticed that all kinds of media galleries from various themes/builders (one site uses The7 + Visual Composer, the other one Enfold + his builder) stopped working, and in this they screw up the entire page where they are located (the HTML is totally blank).
After trying to activate/deactivate all the plugins and reactivating them one-by-one, we found out the issue comes from Views, and it disappeared after a rollback to version 3.0.2.
Unfortunately we don't have a page where you can see the issue at the moment, we kept the rollback to 3.0.2 and if we upgrade to 3.1.x the galleries crash again (and the website is already online).
What can we do to help you replicate the issue, so then you can start to investigate it?
Thank you.

Hi Manuel,

Thank you for getting in touch.

What you can do if possible is to setup a test environment with one of the sites where you can replicate the issue and then provide the login to that site.

From there I should be able to investigate the issue.

Thanks,
Shane

Hi Shane, thanks for your reply.
We set up a staging version on another server, you can reach it here:

It's a very basic version, with a lot of features deactivated and just a couple of media to populate the test gallery. It's quite slow because the server used is not top-notch, nut it's enough for some tests.
We updated Views to the latest (3.1.2) version and we put a gallery in the home page, so you can work directly on that one. As said, it's a staging version made just for your tests, so you can do anything you want there.

Thank you!

Hi Manuelan,

There seems to be a definite error on the page.

Is it possible for you to enable the wordpress debugging so that I can see if there are any errors on the page?

Thanks,
Shane

The problem seems to be there there is an infinite loop being generated on the page. Something seems to be causing this.

I would like to take a copy of this site for further debugging.

Hi Shane, sorry for the late reply (I think we're in different time zones, therefore some delays are natural).
I activated the on-screen debug, so you can see if there are some errors (I checked and I don't see any).

No problems for the copy, if you want I still have the Duplicator file but it will need some plugin deactivation after installing it (the original website is more complex, in the staging version I deactivated a lot of things).

I placed the files here, if you want to download them:

If you prefer a copy of the already clean version, you can use Duplicator directly in the staging version.

Hi Manuelan,

I got the duplicator setup but I cant seem to find the page where the gallery is.

Could you perhaps send me a link to a page where I can see the issue ?

This is so I have something to work to know exactly which page.

Thanks,
Shane

Hi Shane,
you can use the page /rototom/nuestra-historia/
There's a masonry at the end of the page, the one with the "Carteles" title. (we deactivated it in VC at the moment, due to the issue).

Hi Manuelan,

I found a solution that can work for you.

Where ever in your template you are calling the [wpv-post-body] shortcode, ensure that it is added like this [wpv-post-body view_template='none']

I tried this on the test site and your template starts showing. I also see that the issue is not present on your other posts.

Thanks,
Shane

Hi Shane, thanks for your response. Unfortunately this workaround isn't enough for us. Sure it's good if we're working in Views or Content Templates, but this happens in "simple" pages as well, where no Toolset shortcodes are used. Plus, it's something that I could do easily; but we have some editors as well, they insert/modify/translate articles on the website and they have no experience with HTML and shortcodes, so it's impossible for them to look at the code and make a modification like this every time the error appears while they're writing a new article.

Hi Manuelan,

I see that you have content templates setup for your pages.

What happens is when you create a page it gets auto assigned to a content template if you've set that template as default for that Post Type.

Once you've made the changes that i've recommended in the content templates then it should resolve the issue. What you can do is to try seeing if you can replicate the issue with the change and send me a link to the page so that I can check to see why its failing.

Thanks,
Shane
