[Closed] Encrypted Custom Fields

This support ticket is created vor 2 years, 10 months. There's a good chance that you are reading advice that it now obsolete.

This is the technical support forum for Toolset - a suite of plugins for developing WordPress sites without writing PHP.

Everyone can read this forum, but only Toolset clients can post in it. Toolset support works 6 days per week, 19 hours per day.

Is there a way to encrypt custom fields that are considered PII, such as names?

Is there any documentation that you are following?

Is there a similar example that we can see?

Sorry, I don't see how you would do that.

Perhaps there is a solution available for WordPress that filters the API functions to add or update post meta and get post meta, to encrypt and decrypt as required.

When Toolset saves custom field values to the database and when it retrieves them it is just using the standard WordPress APIs.

It would be nice for Toolset to have encryption field option as with ACF (below).

Yes, but that is an add-on created by someone, it's not part of ACF.

It should be possible to do something similar with Toolset custom fields, but you would need a developer to develop it.

If it's an important feature for you then you could try posting a job with Toolset contractors at https://toolset.com/contractors/
