Problem:

I want the search/dropdown field in a CRED form where a user connects relationships to be able to display all posts, even ones that are not published and only Pending Review.

Solution:

There isn't such kind of built-in feature withing Toolset Forms plugin, you can consider custom codes, for example:

Problem:
hiding parent posts when there are no child posts in view result

Solution:
To hide the parent posts if there is no child while using the nested view, you will have to use the view's filter hook "wpv_filter_query_post_process" where you can remove the parents based on child is available or not.

To find the related child posts, we can use the post relationship API function toolset_get_related_posts() or WP_Query.

Problem:

I am trying to speed up the search of my view, and am wondering if it is possible to implement such a jQuery snippet of code to tell the database to begin searching through the database as soon as a user leaves the input field.

Solution:

There isn't such kind of built-in feature within Toolset plugins, you might consider custom codes, for example, when event "onfocusout" is triggered, you can submit the search form with jQuery submit(), see jQuery document:

Problem:

Use custom field of related post in [wpv-conditional] shortcode.

Solution:

In order to use "item" attribute, you can try to setup one-to-one post type relationship, so you will display the "contact-role" checkboxes field second option value with shortcode:

[types field="contact-role" item="@person-to-shiur-location.parent" option="1"][/types]

And use above shortcode in [wpv-conditional] shortcode
