Tell us what you are trying to do? I would like to register users and provide them permissions on my site... I had purchased a plugin Ultimate Membership for this a long time back (but never ended up using it) and now I have Toolset Access which too I am yet to understand.. but before I do, I'd like to know if one is a replacement for another or do they work together.
Is there any documentation that you are following?
Thanks for the prompt response and update..:-).. really appreciate it.. and thanks for helping me on chat with the other issues... I am not sure what timezone you are in.. but if possible do let me know so that I can be online during your working hours so that if there's anything we need to discuss on the current ticket we can do it at the same time..
I am currently in Bali, Indonesia.. I think it's GMT +8.00 ..
Anyways regarding my current requirement it's as below
I would like to have paid registrations (not sure if Ultimate Membership allows to collect payment on registration or not.. but would Toolset do this?)
Once the user is registered I have 2 types of Access.. Retailer and Brand Owner.
Based on the type of user I would want some sections of the frontend to be visible to them. For example, I have a Brand Profile Page which when you are not logged in would not display a particular button/link but if you are logged in as a retailer you should be able to see and access this button (It's a link to the business portal)
Similarly in the wp-admin section, if the user is logged in I would want the user to access the RETAILER Custom Post Type only.. and when he views the Opticians Posts.. he should be able to see only the one where he is the author (I would make them the author of their stores).
Now when he is editing the custom post there would be some Fields and maybe Field Groups I don't want the user to access or view..
At the outset, this is all I need to achieve for the moment.. please do advise if Toolset can do it all or do I need Ultimate Membership Plugin.

This is also possible with our Toolset Access plugin where you can restrict pages of your site to be only visible to logged in users.

This is also possible with our Access plugin, where you can setup the various permissions on the CPT itself to allow only the author to be able to edit their posts.
Now when he is editing the custom post there would be some Fields and maybe Field Groups I don't want the user to access or view..
Access also has the ability to limit the read access to the field groups. While you may not be able to limit access to the individual fields you can apply permissions to the entire field group.
I think, from your explanation, it's more a replacement for me.. everything that I really need from a Membership Plugin, Toolset provides.. the only thing that I'd like to figure out is if I really have to add Woocommerce.. I have a subscription application I use that collects payments for me that I'd be using .. Zoho Subscriptions.. I'd like to see some sort of an integration for that..
