Hi,

I want to get away from the "Events Calendar" plugin and create my own event section using Toolset. Unfortunately, there is still no guidance or functionality developed by Toolset so far (though I created a ticket on the wish list and others, too...). I think this would boost Toolset further...

But, I go the way anyway now. And come to a point to ask what is the best approach to create a page with

a) a list of all upcoming events and
b) to have search functionality on it, too.

First I thought to create an archive page as it contains search automatically. But as far as I can see, I am NOT able to just show all ">= TODAY - events, but only with all events on it. Correct? Or is there a way, to create the archive in a kind of a "preset Search" showing only upcoming events?

Second idea: Or is it better to create a view where I can set a filter to achieve this. No problem. But is it also possible to integrate a search opportunity into a view like an archive page does?

It would be great to get some advice how to proceed best..

Thanks!
Martin

Hi Martin,

Just to make sure that we are on the same page, you might have problems replicating all the features of a calendar using Toolset without the need for some custom development.

For the method you asked for, I would recommend the View method where you can use Query Filters to add filters to the content of the website and you can have the search filter functionality:

Please read the documentation below on how to add the custom search feature in a view:

https://toolset.com/course-lesson/creating-a-custom-search/

Thank you.

Hi Christopher,

Thanks for guiding me to the document. It seems as if I can achieve what I dominated currently to…

You certainly will be right that a fluid-fledge solution might need a lot more. But in my case it will suffice for the moment..

Thanks. Great support as always!

Kind regards,
Martin
