I am trying to:

Recreate the image slider as described in the help topic here:

https://toolset.com/documentation/user-guides/creating-sliders-with-types-and-views/how-to-create-a-wordpress-thumbnail-slider-in-minutes/

Once i have imported the module, and insert the shortcode on a desired page, using the portfolio, it works, it displays the portfolio images.

When completing the instructions to adapt it to my own setup, i get to the part which tells to Replace custom fields.
I follow the instructions, until the end, but they seem to be incomplete instructions as i do not get the result. Instead, i just get blank spaces with no images.

I'm certain that there should be much more to it than is described on the set up page.

If anyone has any advise about this, i would really appreciate it. Rather frustrating as the title of the documentation says it can be set up in Minutes - perhaps 200 minutes?

Thanks.

Hi Paul,

Thank you for contacting us and welcome to Toolset Support.

Sorry to learn that you're finding the instructions in that user guide confusing, but I'll be happy to help you find the missing part.

To troubleshoot and see what's done already, I'll need access to the website's front-end and the back-end.

Can you please share temporary admin login details in reply to this message?

Note: Your next reply will be private and though no changes will be made on your website, please make a complete backup copy, before sharing the access details.

regards,

Hi Paul,

Thank you for sharing the admin access.

To better understand the guide ( https://toolset.com/documentation/user-guides/creating-sliders-with-types-and-views/how-to-create-a-wordpress-thumbnail-slider-in-minutes/ ) and the module ( "Portfolio slider with thumbnails" ) in question, it is important to understand that what it is designed to accomplish.

This module includes two views ( "Portfolio slider with thumbnails" & "Portfolio slider with thumbnails - carousel" ) which are set to cycle through all the "Portfolios" type posts and then show the custom field named "portfolio-cover-image" from each post, in a slider.

I can understand that the presence of the repeating field group "Portfolio gallery" and its inner fields can lead to confusion.

For the scope of this specific guide and the module that repeating field group can be ignored. I've also shared this point with the concerned team so that this module only includes the relevant fields and not the extra ones.

If you'll check the result of these views on your website, you'll see that it is showing the cover images from the available "Trips" posts, but only 1 post ( "Essaouira day trip" ) and not for the others since they don't have the cover image set in the relevant field.

I hope this clarifies and if you plan to use the views and fields differently, you're welcome to let me know and I'll guide accordingly.

regards,
Waqar
