Hi - I chose a checkbox format when I should have chosen a selector drop-down field for single entry.
Because I used the same fields as the product input fields, I have several hundred pages that were created using the original checkbox field which contains 14 field options.
Can these field types be changed from checkbox to selector and transfer existing field entries?
Unfortunately no its actually not possible to do this. The field structure and how they are stored is completely different so it wouldn't be possible to switch them.
What you will need to do is to create a completely new field for your select.
The custom fields that make up the content for the product page template are the same fields I used for the search form. 11 fields in a group.
There are two fields that relate to color selection for the product pages. Can I create an alternate field group > create two alternate color selector fields specifically for the form and use the original checkbox fields for the product page content.
In this case, will the new color fields used in the search form, search the color data from the checkbox fields in the product page template?
Do the content fields and the search fields all have to be the same?
That is because the field that you create in types is directly related to the field that is used in views to search.
So it wouldn't work. You will need to add the color picker filters on the frontend to target the color custom fields but they can't be used to target the checkbox field.
