First of all congratulates with the release of the Blocks plugin!
I watched the tutorials and read the blogs and it really looks like a powerful next step for Toolset that is probably helping a lot of users. For us personally the blocks plugin looks in most of our projects not as the ideal solution. That has two reasons:
1. All of our projects are custom designed and delivered as PSD or Sketch files. We then build all templates and views 100% pixel perfect in HTML and CSS. We use Toolset to easily add fields to these templates and avoid all PHP related work so we can spend most of our time on front end work.
The blocks plugin offers speed in building, but the above can not be achieved (or we will be building HTML and CSS after all losing the essence of the idea). Is that correct?
2. Our way of working results in good looking websites however, there is not much flexibility within a page. In some projects we add flexibility by using conditionality of sections etc but it is not real flexibility. Therefore i was wondering. Is it possible to build your page by adding a set 'blocks'.
I mean it in the following way. In the ideal world we build 'blocks' the way i've described above (that holds HTML/CSS/JS). We create a field set and assign it to that particular block. The admin user can add various 'blocks' (that we've built) and fill the related fields. This results in a page that consists of a set of sections, that is looking the way we've built it and is showing the content from the admin.
I tried to do this in a test environment, but i could not achieve it. Is something like this possible? And if so; what is the way of working?
3. Lastly, what will be the plan for Views. I read that Views will be supported, but will future functionality be integrated in views as well? So will views be the base for blocks or will future development only focus on blocks?
