Problem: I am using a View of a repeating field group (RFG) to create an image gallery. When I drag-and-drop to reorder the rows of the RFG, the image order is not changing in the View.
Solution: Make sure that the option "Field - toolset-post-sortorder" is selected in the "Order by" options.
The issue here is that the user had a number displaying on his page that he wanted to remove.
Solution:
In this case it turns out to be a rogue [wpv-post-id] shortcode. Removing this shortcode from the user's content template resolved the issue.
Problem: I would like to create an image thumbnail gallery that includes a text overlay. The text overlay should appear over each thumbnail when the user hovers over the thumbnail.
Solution:
- Create a custom post type called "Portfolio Image" or something relevant to your site.
- Add an image custom field for the image and a single-line text custom field to hold the caption.
- Add any other custom fields or taxonomies necessary to create the search filters as shown in the example site.
- Create a custom search View of Portfolio Image posts, filtered by the desired fields and taxonomies.
- In the Loop of this View, output the image custom field and the caption custom field using Types shortcodes.
- Add markup, custom CSS, and/or custom JS that handles the interaction and animation for each element.
Problem: I would like to scroll to a specific item on the page by ID when AJAX search results are updated.
Solution: Use the js_event_wpv_parametric_search_results_updated event hook to trigger custom JavaScript after AJAX search results are updated.

Problem: I have two custom fields in a Form, and I would like to only allow one of the fields to be filled in. I would like to set up some form validation that prevents form submission if a User fills in values for both fields.
Solution: There are two options in our system:
- Conditional Form Groups: You can use Conditional Form Groups to show or hide the "Submit" button based on the value of these fields. If both fields are not empty, then you can hide the submit button. This is "front-end" validation, meaning that the validation occurs before the form is submitted.
- Custom validation API: You can use custom code to validate form fields on the "back-end". If errors are detected, the form will reload and display your custom error messages. This requires PHP code.
Beyond that you may be able to use custom JavaScript to handle this type of DOM manipulation.
