I am trying to: We have set different post fields as required. This worked like a charm until the update to the new version 3.4.14 in both classic and block editor.

I expected to see: Validation error if fields are not filled out
Instead, I got: It saves the post without blocking to save the post and throwing an error
Tested on 2 production systems. Test-System with older version still works.

I'm aware that this issue can occur when you've disabled the content editor. Have you disabled the content editor for you post type ? Or does the issue occur even with the editor enabled.

both block and classic editors are enabled. It happens in the regular wp post type.

What you can do is to send me a screenshot of the Post Type settings as well as a screenshot of the custom Field group with the expanded custom field that is required.
This should give me enough information to try to replicate it on my end.

I suspect that you're working with the Classic editor correct? If that is the case then the issue is already known however with the gutenburg editor the required field should work as according to my tests.
This is the exact known scenario under which the required fields will fail. For now you can workaround the issue by using the gutenburg editor.
