Hi.
I cloned a live site to localhost. It worked fine except for one thing.
I have a directory of courses, created with Toolset CPT, hierarchical taxonomy.
Like this:
WordPress (top category)
- Basic course (sub category)
- Webshop
Database
- Access
- SQL Server
etc...
After the move, no category links works.
I've checked permalinks, etc, but i don't know what's wrong.
As a general question, what's your recommendation when copying a site? Any plugins you recommend? Or do it manually?
I've tried a couple of plugins (Duplicator, WP Clone) but they don't work well on large sites.
1. As a general question, what's your recommendation when copying a site? Any plugins you recommend? Or do it manually?
Always use Duplicator Plugin, this will work just smooth.
I never had any issues with it, as long the server did not interrupt the Build.
2. Related to the broken links, this must be elaborated to be solved.
- what exactly means broken:
-- do they link to a wrong location
-- do they simply not fire
-- anything else
- where are they located and how are they built?
3. Can you elaborate on that, and eventually also try with a minimal Setup (Toolset only)?
Hi.
1. Duplicator does not work for me, i get hundreds of errors. I don't know if it's because:
- The live site is in a subcategory?
- The live site uses CloudProxy, htpss?
2. The problem is ALL category links, shown by a normal Toolset archive View. It messes up the page:
- The content is a white page.
- And also, strangely, the admin bar in the top is gone. And also the sidebar.
- When i go to any other page, everything looks good.
- If i temporarily delete the Toolset archive page, it's NOT messed up. The admin toolbar, and sidebar is shown again. But content page is empty.
If you wonder how i cloned, it's manual. I used UpDraft Plus which really is only the zipped files and the database. So i just copied themes, plugins, upload, etc, and imported the database.
Hi.
It works now.
I completely deleted the archive View and created a new one from scratch.
And now it works fine. Don't know why it didn't work after the move.
Thank you for your help.
