Yes, it is possible to use Toolset Custom Code snippets as a replacement to editing the functions.php of a child theme.
If you disable all Toolset plugins, then those Custom Code snippets will be disabled too, so you can consider it as Custom Code snippets for Toolset plugins.
The issue here is that the user added his Types shortcode to a cell on his page builder but the shortcode isn't rendering correctly.
Solution:
Could you try instead of adding the shortcode to a single line field could you try adding it to the wordpress default editor and let me know if it displays correctly?
Most times adding the shortcode to WYSIWYG editor or a text editor will resolve the issue.
JS errors when edit post with many-to-many relationship

It is a bug of Types plugin 3.0-RC, and our developers have fixed it in Types plugin 3.0-RC 2
