Problem: I would like to display the output of a taxonomy View such that each top-level term in the hierarchy is shown in its own column, with its child terms displayed underneath it.
Solution:
- Create a new View of your taxonomy, and apply a taxonomy parent filter. Select "Parent is the taxonomy selected by the parent Taxonomy View", then in the Loop Output editor add the term title or slug or link or whatever you would like to include for each item. This View will display all the child elements in a column.
- Create another new View of your taxonomy and again apply a taxonomy parent filter. Select "Parent is None". This will create a View of top-level terms, since they do not have parents. In the Loop Output editor, you can choose to create a table or Bootstrap grid that places your content in rows and columns. In each loop element, include the term name or link for each parent, then insert the View of child terms you just created underneath the top level term.
- Place the 2nd View on your page. You should now have a Bootstrap-style grid of top-level terms and their respective child terms underneath.
