Okay, but I don't see a "save template" function so I can save the whole design including all the settings and stuff? I can put all of the custom fields in a container block so I can save that as a reusable block, but that won't copy search, pagination etcera?

That's correct, any settings such as search settings or pagination settings and controls all need to be set up for both the View and the custom archive.

The only thing which can be re-used across either is what's actually output, and in the case of using Toolset Blocks to create the View or custom archive, that means creating an unassigned content template where you add the fields required, and then inserting that template using a Content Template block into the output section of your View and again into the output section of your archive.
