[Resolved] Wasting My Time

This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
After enabling the Layout Plugin and its genesis integration plugin, you notice that the Genesis native Search function is broken and returns the wrong posts.

Solution:
This search is not broken. Broken means, it is not working. Your Search is since Layouts is enabled, returning other posts than you expected.

This is because "Layout for Search Results" is assigned to the Search Archive now, by default.

If you disable / delete Layouts and the Integration, you can right now not change this.

Please (if uninstalled) try to re-install the required Plugins and go to Layouts > Layouts, find and click on "Change Layout Use", there you should uncheck "Search" from Archive part.

This will bring back the standard Genesis search function.

Beware that the default layout shipped with the integration is a dummy layout with 3 dummy (non-existing posts) to demonstrate only how it should look and the instructions to achieve that.

If you want, you can also keep Layouts and Genesis integration, and customize the Archive Cell that you will find in that Layout.

You can use the WordPress Archive Cell to display the actual posts loop.

and now, 2 separate views with 2 different names and 2 different slugs.

one views is called "homespot-2" and the other is called "homespot-3". look at the EDIT links in the image attached, they both have the same name, though they are 2 different views.

I seriously am sorry for this.

Even more, I have to tell you that I am off right now.

I will be back Sunday, it's my weekend right now.

Please rest assured that I will read that thread, every line, and resume here to see what is the problem, how to solve and proceed in your development of your project.

Please enjoy your weekend as well.

I will be here on Sunday and focus on this issue.

I apologize again, that it seems the things went left in that other thread.

Thank you, and I wish a good weekend to you so to have a good start in the next week.

Thanks, Beda! I feel less like breaking shit now! Have a good weekend.

p.s. - on Sunday, when you come back to this, if you could address the search problem, that would be great. the other stuff, i can save it for later.

OK, I'm here to help you now.

Hope you're still enjoying your Weekend.

Regarding this:
https://toolset.com/forums/topic/wasting-my-time/#post-374848

This is a different issue. Please open one ticket each issue.

That ShortCode is wrong BTW.
It should be similar to this:

[wpv-post-featured-image class='class']

You notice that you for some reason have a semicolon at the end of your ShortCode?
That should not be there.

Have you inserted those Codes manually, or with the GUI?

This info will be needed to be added to the new, on topic ticket you will create about, if the issue persists.
I apologize this process but it's mandatory Company Policy, so to enable users to find solutions and Supporters to focus on one issue a time.

Now about the issue you started this thread about:

Here is what happened: search was working.
I installed Layouts. Search stopped working.
I disabled Layouts. Search does not work.
I turned Layouts back on. Search does not work.
Instead, it returns the following: image attached.

This search is not broken. Broken means, it is not working. Your Search is, since Layouts, returning other posts than you expected.

As Mladen elaborated this is because "Layout for Search Results" is assigned to the Search Archive.

Since you disabled / deleted Layouts and the Integration, you can right now not change this.

Please try to re-install the required Plugins and go to Layouts > Layouts, find and click on "Change Layout Use", there you should uncheck "Search" from Archive part.

This will bring back the standard Genesis search function.

Beware that the default layout shipped with the integration is a dummy layout with 3 dummy (non existing posts) to demonstrate only how it should look and the instructions to achieve that.

You can see at the very bottom of the page this text:

If you want, you can also keep Layouts and Genesis integration, and customize the Archive Cell that you will find in that Layout.
You can use the WordPress Archive Cell to display the actual posts loop.
The DOC for this is here:
https://toolset.com/documentation/user-guides/normal-vs-archive-views/
https://toolset.com/documentation/user-guides/wordpress-archive-cell/
https://toolset.com/documentation/user-guides/layouts-genesis-integration/

This should solve this issue.

Regarding the Content Template (wrong parsing of apostrophes) and the Views issue, please can you open 2 new separate tickets?

I'll be happy to handle.

PS. If I need to login to your site for some reason, you will need to re-eanble login details and send them to me, as the ones provided to Mladen don't work anymore for me.

Thank you

I'm going to quit Layouts. It's been a year of trying it, both with and without the newly introduced Genesis Layouts Integration plugin. It's just not working. I just literally wasted 10 days trying to use it. Setting up HMTL layouts is easy, anyway.

Next? Search is back. It has miraculously started working again. I guess I will not get an answer to this question, and, frankly, I don't care anymore. I curse myself for trying Layouts again - just an enormous, enormous time suck.

As for the semi-colon at the end of the shortcode? That IS the problem - I am not adding it, the app is adding it. I will start another ticket for that.

I'm also starting another ticket for Maps. Thanks so much for your help so far.
