Thank you,
I followed the directions to the "T" as I said before in the original query - it is not allowing me to upload a .json file to the wordpress website it says the file is not allowed as it can be harmful????
so how do I change this, I see other map plugins allow for you to paste the .json code directly inside the UI?
Regards
Michael

Dear Michael,

Unfortunately, Toolset Map plugin does not support paste the .json code directly.

For the problem:
t is not allowing me to upload a .json file to the wordpress website it says the file is not allowed as it can be harmful

I have tried it in a fresh wordpress installation, there isn't similar problem, see screenshot json.JPG, I can upload the .json file without any problem.

There might be other plugin/theme disallow uploading .json file, I suggest you try one of below:
1) Locate the problem plugin/theme, add .json file into the white list.
2) Upload the .json file to your website with FTP tools, setup the map shortcode attribute "style_json" manually, for example:

[wpv-map-render map_id="map-1" style_json="<em><u>hidden link</u></em>"][/wpv-map-render]
