I am trying to:
increase performance to a reasonable level

I expected to see:
page load within 1-5 seconds

Instead, I got:
15-30 second load time

Hi Peter,

Thank you for contacting our support forum.

To ensure that this isn't being caused by a 3rd party plugin I would recommend temporarily disabling all the non-toolset plugins and trying again to see if the issue still remains.

Thanks,
Shane

Okay, I deactivated all those I felt comfortable deactivating (please let me know if I should do more safely!) But no difference - still slow as molasses. Last test was 16 seconds to refresh.

Next?

Following is list of deactivated - and still active plugins.

Hi Peter,

Thats strange, I would suggest using a caching plugin like WP Super Cache and see if this helps to improve the speed of the site.

Please let me know the results of this, if it doesn't help we can investigate further.

Thanks,
Shane

Thanks! That cache plugin works much better than the previous one. (Perhaps user configuration error...)
