I am trying to build a simple login user flow where the login in on a separate page. This seems simple enough and I even followed the tutorial for a membership site with a local install of WordPress.
I am essentially trying to rebuild a site that that (um) an overseas developer "professionally" put together for me. I have just spent two full weeks mapping out all the surprises they left for me and decided rather than try and fix these gifts It would be cleaner to start from scratch and make some structural changes as well.
I am not a developer (important point) but am attempting to re-engineer the site on localhost with nothing but WordPress, toolset starter (child) theme, and wp-types plugins.
I wanted to isolate any toolset problems from conflicts with other plugins.
I am starting out basically with getting the user flow and access controls correct. My problem is with the login form using the wpv_login_form shortcode. I have got the "my accounts" page set up as per the tutorial with the conditional selections working. but when I move on to the standard login page the ctrl+c ctrl+v it works as a login but when I modify the code to include the redirect_url="" parameter, the page either freezes or loads nothing when previewed. This also occurs with the redirect_url="" removed but with other <a> on the page.
OBSERVATIONS
I am using Access for UAC
Sometimes and with no particular pattern to it, when saving the post (in both page view and content layout view) I get an ajax error and the page won't save.
I am using Opera as a user logged out browser and Chrome as my logged in development browser.
Sometimes, after adding content back in and refreshing the preview the page just loads as is, Sometimes it loads as an empty page.
when the login page is working and I am not logged in, logging in fails to log me in and reloads the login form (with the redirect_url="" disabled)
when trying to add the redirect during the shortcode options menu, it keeps saying it is an invalid url.
CRITICAL OUTCOMES
I need to add this login page (for all site visitors) as I don't want to use the default wordpress login.
I need this page to redirect to the accounts page after it logs in.
IMPORTANT
this is fresh install of wordpress, toolset them and toolset plugins (all installed in the last few days)
I am using WAMP server.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated, I have already spent two full days troubleshooting this on my own!!
