Típicamente tendrías una página "Mi perfil" ó similar donde puedes ver y editar tu propio perfil, es decir el URL donde tu ves tu perfil no es igual que el URL donde terceros ven tu perfil.

Publica una página Mi Perfil y coloca un View que muestra entradas colaboradores y que tiene un filtro del autor para mostrar la entrada colaborador que pertenece al usuario corriente.

En la salida del View incluye los campos del perfil y un enlace al formulario para editarlo, y en el sección wpv-no-items-found en lugar del texto "No items found" coloca el formulario de crear perfil.

Entonces cuando un usuario nuevo que no tiene entrada colaborador visita a site.com/mi-perfil/ verá el formulario para publicar su perfil, y si ya lo tiene verá el perfil y un enlace a editarlo.
