I am trying to control the amount of data subscribers can access based on their user type. I want to better understand what I can achieve in Toolset to control how many posts a class of user can view or the number of searches they can undertake... to give them a taster of what is available to paid subscribers... a bit like how Crunchbase or Linkedin work.... I understand how I can use Access to control access to certain types of content but I want to put some sort of numeric limit on what free subscribers can see.... perhaps which resets every day

The only option I can think of currently is to use Access to show different search options (different views) for different user types so the free search gives say 5 results and the paid gives more or unlimited results.

Do you know what other options might be open to me within the limits of how Toolset works?... I am really keen not to do a full rebuild to add this sort of complexity in.

Thanks in anticipation.

Hello and thank you for contacting the Toolset support.

I am not really sure to understand your use case. Let's take the search example, would you like to limit the number of results or the number of searches and views?
1. Limit number of results: If you would like to limit the number of results, you can use Access shortcode [toolset_access] or Views conditional shortcode [wpv–conditional] to show different views for your types of users.
2. Limit number of searches/views: If you would like to limit the number of searches or views, there is no built-in way to do it with Toolset. You will need to use custom code or integrate a third-party plugin(views counter plugin) with custom code.

Limit number of results:
Check the following articles on how to use the [toolset_access] shortcode and [wpv–conditional] shortcodes:
- https://toolset.com/documentation/user-guides/views/conditional-html-output-in-views/
- https://toolset.com/documentation/user-guides/views/views-shortcodes/#vf-153493

You can also use a shortcode or a function inside your conditions, which will is useful for complex scenarios, check these articles:
- https://toolset.com/documentation/user-guides/views/conditional-html-output-in-views/using-custom-functions-in-conditions/

I hope this answers your question. Let me know if you have any doubts.
