Hi,
Ok the issue I'm experiencing is a bit of a weird one.
In order for user's to place an ad on the My Account page the user role must be either customer or administrator.
In my case I require the use of author pages and a customer does seem to allow this.
For example, this is an author page: hidden link
Now when you change the user role to customer and try to visit the author page it leads no where, just back to the home page.
Dear Coetzee,
The problem you mentioned above is abnormal, in case it is a compatibility problem, please try this:
1) deactivate other plugins and switch to wordpress default theme, and test again
2) If the problem still persists, please provide a database dump file (ZIP file) of your website in below private detail box, I need to test and debug it in my localhost, thanks
I am downloading the file, will feedback if there is anything found
Here are what I found:
There isn't similar problem in my localhost.
Here are detail steps, please correct me if there is anything missing:
1) Import your database dump file in my localhsot
2) Activate only the latest version Toolset plugins + Original "Astra" theme (or wordpress default theme 2017)
3) switch to a customer user "hurricanebikes",
4) test the URL you mentioned above:
hidden link
it works fine, see screenshot: customer2.JPG
There isn't similar problem as you mentioned above:
when you change the user role to customer and try to visit the author page it leads no where, just back to the home page.
Hi,
You changed the wrong user, you should change the user velotex to customer.
My apologies, perhaps I should expand on my reply.
What you should do is to change the role of the user velotex to customer and then try to visit the author page.
If the user role is set to subscriber, the author page will work.
Thanks for the details, I can see the problem, but it is not related with Toolset plugins, you can simply deactivate all other plugins(including Toolset plugins), except Woocommerce plugin, you should be able to see the same problem:
There isn't author archive page for customer user
can you confirm it?
If it is, it should be a limitation of Woocommerce plugin, do you agree?
That's correct yes.
Is there a way, perhaps using the Access plugin to configure the subscriber role to behave like the customer role in terms of being able to place and edit ads?
Thanks for the confirmation, for the new question:
Is there a way, perhaps using the Access plugin to configure the subscriber role to behave like the customer role in terms of being able to place and edit ads?
There isn't such a built-in feature within Access plugin, and I don't think it is a good idea, it will conduct other unexpected result, some woocommerce feature work only for customer users.
Ok,
I'll have to figure something out.
Thanks very much for the help.
