Give users the option to add cities and regions to an existing Country Structure

This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem: I have a CRED form where Users can select from certain Cities and Regions. I would like to offer the ability to add Cities and Regions if they do not yet exist.

Solution: A CRED form can only create or modify a single post at a time, so it's not possible to add a City or Region on-the-fly like this. It would require a separate CRED form. One alternative is to use taxonomies instead of custom fields. Taxonomy terms can be added directly in a CRED form.

This support ticket is created 6 years, 10 months ago. There's a good chance that you are reading advice that it now obsolete.

Guten Tag,

I would like to recreate an existing worldwide directory and like to use toolset.

Unfortunately, I haven’t found a solution to the following problem:

The ads are created by the users themselves, they must be listed according to the following scheme:

Country / Region(state) / City

Since it is impossible to pre-populate all regions and cities worldwide it must be possible for the users to type the region (state) and city (town).

I have reviewed all the reference pages, unfortunately, I found no function where the user himself can add extra information’s to an such an existing Structure.

Here an Example (in German) what i like to realize with toolset

Hope somebody have an Idea how I can realize this with toolset.

Hi, CRED does not offer something exactly like this, but offers some similar features in a different experience. CRED gives a User the ability to select from predefined options for custom fields. If cities and regions are taxonomies, then CRED will give Users the ability to select from existing terms or add their own term. The interface to add or select terms can be seen here on this test site I have set up:

The Categories and Tags inputs show how hierarchical and flat taxonomy terms are managed in CRED.
However, if cities and regions are custom post types, then the only way to add options to these lists with CRED is to use a separate form. A single CRED form can only add or edit a single post.
