Hi,

I have bought the full package and have now setup a development area online to get to grips with your software, perhaps you can point me in the direction to get going, you have an idea of thre site I want to do and i am thinking of using your starter theme to get me going, please advise.

This is what you want to build, right?
hidden link

1. Create Post Types with Types Plugin (Tours)
https://toolset.com/documentation/user-guides/create-a-custom-post-type/

2. Add relevant taxonomies and custom fields for this Post type (destinations, tour types, etc)
https://toolset.com/documentation/user-guides/create-custom-taxonomies/
https://toolset.com/documentation/user-guides/using-custom-fields/

3. Populate this Posts with your tours

4. Create a View and display the content created
https://toolset.com/documentation/user-guides/views/

5. In that View use a Parametric Search:
https://toolset.com/documentation/user-guides/front-page-filters/

This will allow you to insert the above View with the Wizard into any Page or as a Widget to your Site.

You will style the View's output and parametric search with Custom HTML and CSS.
https://toolset.com/documentation/user-guides/adding-custom-css-views/

If you want, you can use Layouts to overlook and design your Pages.
In there, you can insert a Views Cell, so to display above created content.
https://toolset.com/documentation/user-guides/view-cell/
https://toolset.com/documentation/user-guides/layouts-getting-started-guide/

If you use our Starter Theme you can use Layouts out of the Box.

Please don't hesitate as well to test (and if you want) to use this my custom theme.

It is also fully integrated with Toolset and WPML
We don't provide support for this theme because it's not a official Toolset theme,
but i'm sure you will like it 🙂
Its also very helpful to see how to integrate Bootstrap, Layouts and other codes.

Please do not hesitate to open a new thread if other issues or problems arise

Thank you for your patience.

Hi Beda,

Thanks for all those links, I will look at them slowly, but where can I get and install this?

If you use our Starter Theme you can use Layouts out of the Box.

#358877

Do you mean, how you install the plugins and the theme?

This is elaborated here:
https://toolset.com/documentation/installation/

The theme can be grabbed here:
https://toolset.com/account/downloads/#toolset-themes

You install it as any other WordPress theme

Thank you

#358884

You mentioned that the Starter theme comes with Layouts out of the box, I am not sure where this Starter theme can be downloaded.

#358889

Yes, Starter theme comes with Bootstrap and is full integrated with Toolset.

It does not INCLUDE Layouts, Layouts is a plugin which you install separately.

But it is INTEGRATED with Layouts and all other toolset Plugins.

As mentioned here, you can grab the theme on your Toolset Accounts > Downloads section:
https://toolset.com/forums/topic/for-beda-getting-started/#post-358877

This is the direct link:
https://toolset.com/account/downloads/#toolset-themes

How to download the toolset Plugins (including Layouts) is elaborated here:
https://toolset.com/documentation/installation/

Thank you for your patience.

#358896

Done, I have downloaded and installed the theme, I am now installing the other plugins so that I can start figuring this all out. Can I ask, you know the site I would like to do, what plugins should I install?

#358910

Hi,

I am really struggling to know where to start, I have impoirted the Views Plugin and at this point I am not sure what to do.

Is there a step by step explaining what needs to be done. If I create a new site, I am not entirely sure what that means, but once done, I see that I need as template...etc etc..Just sooo confusing.

#358921

I am hoping for your advice here to see if i am on the right track.
Can I send you login details and maybe you can see if I am correct.

This test site I am doing will basically be a listing of courses that the client will have listed on his site.

Each course will have some information description and then will have some other data like, date, locatoion, time, duration..

So i want to have a short listing page/s and then a full page with all info. There will also be several sections. So not just one long page with courses, but several different pages with listing under categoies and then when the user sees the full details it will be the same template for all.

I hope I have explained it well

#358924

Under VIEWS for example I have created one called "Course Listings" and within that design I have added some of Types etc that I have setup, howveer I am unsure how to preview that page on the front end.

#358957

IGNORE THIS POST I FOUND THE ANSWER IN YOUR DEMO SITE
<a href="[wpv-post-url]" class="re-link btn btn-info pull-right">></a>

I think I am getting there, slowly but surely, what I am struggling with now is how do I add a link to the full details page like you have in the attached image. Upload does not work for some reason in Firefox.

hidden link
On the properties page there is a small arrow which links each listing to the full details page. I want to be able to do that, I know how to add the URL ([wpv-post-link]) but i want to be able to customise the text (Click Here for more etc)

#358959

Am I able to for example extract your layouts and look and use it within my design.

#358975

Another issue that for the life of my I can not find, see the weird ( | ) that is appearing at the top of the page?

hidden link

I cannot see where this is coming from, I did at one point use this to seperate 2 values and I can only assume that it is remaining there due to a bug.

#359101

I apologize the delay here

Let me go over your Questions one by one.

1. Can I ask, you know the site I would like to do, what plugins should I install?

I would install at least Types and Views to create and present your content.

CRED is for creating Forms where Users can submit/edit content, so if you don't need this, don't install CRED.

Access is to help you control who can see what on your site and control accesses on the Backend
If you don't need control over this, you can neglect to install Access.

Layouts is a Drag and Drop Editor to fully customize your templates.

If you are happy with the Design of Toolset Starter theme you should not install it, as other wise, using this specific Theme, you will need to create Layouts in order to present your content.

All Plugins can also be installed later, if you need.

2. Is there a step by step explaining what needs to be done. If I create a new site, I am not entirely sure what that means, but once done, I see that I need as template...etc etc..Just sooo confusing.

A new site, is the entire system.
If you are familiar with WordPress, you will know that creating a new Site will require you to populate this.

I assume you mean "pages".
Pages are created to present content, lists and more.
It does need a Layout ONLY if you use Layouts Plugin AND Toolset Starter Theme.

If you use the Theme I provided you (the one created by me) you will NOT need to use Layouts even if installed.
I use a more dynamic Code to integrate Layouts, thats' why.

3. I am hoping for your advice here to see if i am on the right track.
Can I send you login details and maybe you can see if I am correct.

Sure.
I enabled a private form, and once I have access I will create 3 things:
- A dummy Post Type
- A dummy View to present this post type's entries
- A dummy Layout (if you want) for a single page where you will see the output of all above.

4. Under VIEWS for example I have created one called "Course Listings" and within that design I have added some of Types etc that I have setup, howveer I am unsure how to preview that page on the front end.

After creating the View, insert that View into a WordPress PAGE.
This is done by creating a Page, and then hit on the button "Fields and Views"
In that PopUp you will find your previously created View.
Insert it on the page and save it.

Now you can view your Page, in where your View is visible.

5. I know how to add the URL ([wpv-post-link]) but i want to be able to customise the text (Click Here for more etc)

Create a HTML link.
Like this it shall look:

<a href="[wpv-post-link]">Link text or Image</a>

6. Am I able to for example extract your layouts and look and use it within my design.

I am not sure to follow on this one.
Do you want to use Layouts we use on our Demo site?
You can import the entire Demo Site with the Add On Plugin "FrameWork Installer" which you can grab from the same Account page as the other Plugins.

For this to work you need a clean Database.
https://toolset.com/download/framework-installer/

7. Another issue that for the life of my I can not find, see the weird ( | ) that is appearing at the top of the page?

This URL leads to a 404

Please don't hesitate to ask me any more things and if possible provide me access details so I can create some starter examples for you.

Thank you for your patience.

My post is not showing here, is this because it is private? If not I can post it again.
